Why "salt & Mist"?

Our name is a nod to the duality of storytelling. Salt represents the raw, candid truth of the present moment. Mist represents the ethereal, unreal quality of a cherished memory. We specialize in that intersection where reality meets fantasy, archiving the ordinary moments that feel like magic.

Long before we picked up cameras together, we were a tag team—connecting over leading worship, church tech, and co-op video games. Over the years, that seamless rhythm evolved into a shared way of seeing the world.

As quiet observers, we naturally tune into the atmosphere of a room. On a wedding day or portrait session, our synchronized instincts take over: Meli focuses on framing the subject and capturing the finer details, while Sam moves toward unseen angles and candid, fleeting expressions.

When the gear is packed away, our life is rooted in family—toddler laughter, homemade chocolate chip cookies, well-organized days, and morning espresso. We’re partners in every sense, and we can’t wait to welcome you into our archive.
